Internal programsSymptom Relief ProgramIn 1996, the Symptom Relief Program was initiated. This required much more student preparation prior to the 8 hour classroom session. Again, precourse packages had to be completed before attending classes. A medical director was also required to be in place at the Base Hospital Program to delegate the acts that would now be the responsibilities of the level I paramedic. Level I paramedics certified in Symptom Relief carry a drug kit that includes Ventolin, Epinephrine, glucose gel, Glucagon, nitroglycerin and ASA. The level I paramedic can administer these drugs following a specific set of standing orders that were established by the Provincial Medical Advisory Committee. This program continues to undergo strict medical quality assurance to ensure its success.
The Administrative Office is responsible for completing driver's license abstract reviews, accident review and in-vehicle driver education.
