LCAS has appointed a Medical Director for the Lanark County Ambulance Service, Dr. Micheal Dolan.

The responsibilities of this part-time position include;

• Evaluating the ongoing standards of land ambulance service
  
• Assessing the training needs of staff
  
• Providing any identified training
  
• Liaising with Base Hospital training programs
  
• Co-ordinating emergency health services among the various hospitals and agencies within Lanark County
  
• Assisting with the training of First Response teams for use in underserviced areas of the County
  
• Providing General advice and direction on medical and emergency care matters for members of the Lanark County Land Ambulance Service Advisory Board.

Dr. Micheal Dolan, a fully qualified Emergency Specialist, is the Medical Director for Lanark County Ambulance Service. A graduate of the renowned emergency medicine program at the University of Liusville in Kentucky, Dr. Dolan was also a Clinical Fellow in the University's Emergency Medicine Department. He has been a Clinical Lecturer and member of the Emergency department staff at the Ottawa General Hospital. He spent two years in the outpatient and emergency care unit of the Ministry of Defense and avaition Hospital in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia, and spent another seven years in Saudi Arabia as an emergency medicine specialist with a medical services organization. Dr. dolan practised in pakenham from 1975-80, has recently opened a family practice in Almonte.
