Benefits to the Employer:

  • Creates an environment where business and industry can demonstrate community involvement
  • Improves the Service's ability to recruit competent, qualified workers

  • Personal interview

Each co-op student that enters the Lanark County Ambulance Service program is given extensive insight into administration, training,   but the bulk of time is spent observing daily operations. There are two stipulations while working with the crews: students are not allowed to treat or lift patients.

Staff who have  previously been involved with the Co-op program in the services presently within lanark County have been rewarded with the experience of mentoring a student in the health care field while providing the individual with a first hand look at pre-hospital care management. Several of these students have gone on to become paramedics.
