Medical Services

Emergency medical services

Emergency medical help is available by calling

When you call, emergency staff need to know:

  • your language, if other than English
  • which emergency service you need: police, fire or ambulance
  • the type of problem
  • the location
  • the telephone number from where you are calling
  • your name.

Remain calm, speak clearly, and answer all of the call-taker's questions. When there is enough information to dispatch an ambulance, it is dispatched in the background while the call-taker is still talking to you.

Non-emergency transfer by ambulance

For non-emergency ambulance transfers, please call (1-800-267-0991) and the ambulance communicator will try to direct you to an appropriate service.

When you need to move someone and it's not a life-threatening situation, call 1-800-267-0991 to reserve an ambulance. Please book your ambulance request as far in advance as possible.
